As humans living in this age, we have forgotten what it’s like to truly relax.
And if we do, we only know one way to relax- that is lying down using our phone doom scrolling.
But that’s not true relaxation and that’s not truly spending your me-time.
So today I want to share some ways you can relax yourself at home.
But before I start to share about the ways to relax at home it is essential to know why is resting and relaxing essential for you.
Resting at home is important for maintaining our overall health. Resting rejuvenates the body cells which is very essential for your physical health.
Relaxing helps the body to heal naturally.
Resting helps in reducing your stress by keeping you mentally healthy. When you are fit mentally and physically, it promotes the overall well-being of your life and surroundings.
Even the birds and animals rest to conserve their energy. By just resting they heal themselves. It’s a natural thing, a law of the Universe we all should follow.
Relaxing is like charging life’s battery to function well after being fully recharged. If you want to lead a happy and prosperous life, you must create time to relax.
Me and my daughter need a short recharge after our lunch. We take a nap for a short while and we get up and ready for another half-day. It has become a ritual now.
How to relax at home?
Relaxing at home does not mean just lying down on the bed or couch and watching TV or spending your time scrolling the screen.
If we spend our time on our screen, then at the end of the day we will not feel relaxed but instead feel stressed with a heavy head and body.

1. Take time to breathe mindfully
Mindful breathing helps to keep you calm and relaxed. Create a space where you can be with yourself. Make this place your sanctuary to relax and calm down.
Sit straight and observe your in-breathe and out-breathe. It is obvious that thoughts keep coming, but whenever you find you are thinking bring your focus back to your breathing.
This practice helps in building your body and mind strong. This practice helps you merge your body and mind, relaxing your body and mind.
You will feel relaxed and give you peace of mind and joy.
2. Pick up a Good Book
If you want to relax at home then picking up a good book and reading it is the best way to relax at home. Reading teaches us how to be alone.
A good book not only helps you relax but it provides you vast knowledge of life. A good book is your best companion. You can rely completely on it. It will not disappoint you but rather help you build your well-being.
Whenever you want to relax next time grab a good book and relax at your home. You will get up with motivation and inspiration to lead a good life.

3. Take a mindful Bath
If you want to relax at home then taking a bath is a very healthy way to relax. A warm bath or shower can be relaxing.
You can add salt and medicinal oil to make it more relaxing. When you are tired and need space to relax at home then a hot bath is the best solution but with little changes this time, take a mindful bath.
A mindful bath is a regular bath, but having more presence of mind. You keep all your worries outside the bathroom door and just be aware of the moment.
Be fully present while taking every step of cleansing your body, and watering it. Feel that all the negativity is cleansing and going out of your body.
This practice will not only relax your body, but your soul too.
4. Listen to Music
When relaxing at home add soft and calming background music. Music soothes our hearts and souls. Music changes the environment, in which we are living. It gives inner peace and a feeling of relaxation.
Environment affects our mood. If the environment of the home is relaxing then calmness comes to us naturally.
5. Stretch your body
If you want to relax at home then starting with some stretching and moving your body will be a great help.
We feel stressed and heavy, and our body tight during our work or after work. Stretching relaxes your body.
At times I feel that every part of my body is jammed up and I feel uncomfortable. Just stretching hands and legs, moving fingers, head and body makes a great difference.
I feel everything is flowing and my body is in rhythm giving out full relaxation.
Don’t forget to add this little stretching when relaxing at home.
6. Make a Family Movie time
Excess screen time is bad for the overall growth of your life. But watching a good movie with family sometimes is relaxing.
There are so many good movies which give meaningful messages. Some movies lift our life state.
Watching movies together with family will give joy and grow family bonding. Watching movies or series with the family can be the best way to relax at home
7. Spend time in the Kitchen
Relaxing at home is not only you sit and lie down. Relaxing at home is giving joy and peace to yourself.
Spending time in the kitchen, cooking your favourite dish or baking some cake for your children could be relaxing and fun.
8. Spend time with plants
Green is the symbol of peace. Spending time with green plants will give peaceful energy.
If you have plants at home spend time watering and adding manure, taking off the old leaves.
Only looking at them makes me refreshed and relaxed.
Touching the soil with your hands is therapeutic. Taking care of your plant is like taking care of your life. Spending time with plants in the name of relaxing is the best option to invest your time.
9. Journaling
I find Journaling is the best way to relax at home. Just pouring your thoughts and feelings of that moment will make you feel light.
This is one of the best therapy to relax at home.
Other times you can write about every minute to big things of your life you are grateful for.
I write in my journal every day. I write everything, my frustrations, my happiness, gratitude.
I have set boundaries with people who give me negative vibes, with whom I am tired of telling them my rights because they don’t listen to how much I tell.
I pour everything into my journal which gives me tremendous relaxation, otherwise I would be losing my peace of mind.
If you are ready to relax then first of all write down if you have any unpleasant feelings in your journal.
10. Give time for your Hobbies
By giving time to your hobbies enjoy the process of whatever you are doing. Be present while doing it.
It can be drawing, singing, dancing, cooking, gardening, or anything you love doing.
When you give time to the things you love, you will automatically feel happy and relaxed.
