Until 5 years back my life was a series of problems, hardships and uncertainties, but thanks to my practice of daily positive routine I overcame them one after another.
I changed my life in my 40s. I learned how to truly live this life in my mid-40s. Now I am in my early 50 and I want to tell you that it’s never too late to build a positive life for yourself.
And it all starts with building a Positive daily routine for yourself.
Life is a series of highs and lows; winter and spring.
No matter what life brings for us it is entirely in our hands to tackle it with either ease or difficulties.
We have to live our lives no matter what. So why not live happily and gracefully?
Had I not practiced to live a positive life I would have been in the same condition, yelling and complaining about my life and my life would have been miserable.
What is a Positive Daily routine?
Positive living is happy living.
Positive living is mindful living.
Positive living is a peaceful living.
And we all can live a happy and peaceful life by just following some simple routine every day.
A positive daily routine is a series of rituals and habits that we start doing for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
A positive daily routine is about intentional living and prioritizing rituals that boost our well-being and energize us.
Instead of leading a directionless life where we don’t know how to spend our time, we learn to use this time by creating a positive routine that supports our well-being.
And trust me, it’s not that hard.
You just need to find your negative habits and replace them with a new positive one.
Why follow a Positive Daily Routine?
Our life is nothing but a collection of time.
How we spend our time determines how we spend our lives. If our time is not correctly and positively directed, our life feels directionless too.
I have found my life become so much easier and smoother following a routine. There is no rush and chaos because I know what I need to do and where I want to put my energy and focus in.
Imagine if schools and colleges did not follow a routine. There would be no discipline and everything would be complicated.
It would be so difficult to allot classes and there would be so much confusion and chaos.
It’s the same with our life. By following just a simple routine, you will be making your life so much easier and smoother, and you will find that your life will be happy and prosperous.
So here I am going to share 10 daily routines for a Positive Life.
Positive Daily Routine for Positive Living
If you think you don’t have time for this, what you are basically saying is, “I don’t want to create time.”
Choose what suits you. Pick up a negative habit and at least replace one with a positive one.
You don’t have to be extreme. Just give 30 minutes to a good habit in a day for 30 days for a start.
You can obviously devote time for 30 minutes to live a positive life.
With everyday practice, this routine will become a natural part of your life as your negative habits might feel right now to you.
Pin to save
1. Get Up Early
Make a habit of getting up early. Just an hour early from your usual old timing.
Make little changes because change means growth.
Most of the time we wake up and straight start doing our regular chores.
We start living for others.
To live for others is good, but if you do not know how to live for yourself, you won’t enjoy living your life for others.
You will become angry at yourself and others and feel burdened by your everyday tasks because you are not taking care of yourself.
Earlier my first habit as soon as I woke up was to head to the kitchen and look after everyone’s need as an Indian housewife. I thought I could never have the luxury of time to myself in the morning. I never even knew the concept of bed tea.
But in the past 9 to 10 years, I have changed it and now I use my morning time first to serve me.
So make your morning a holy morning and serve yourself first by getting up early.
If your morning is positive and joyful, your day will be positive too.
2. Make your bed
Get into the daily habit and ritual of making your bed in the morning. This little routine can seem simple and mundane, but it can give us a feeling of accomplishment.
I find that it boosts my mood. I feel my mind is clean and tidy and my productivity and focus also improve.
Plus, I love a clean bedsheet and I don’t keep one bedsheet for long.
3. Screen Free Morning
We usually touch our phone as soon as we get up as if it’s a ritual. Avoid doing that.
You might think you have no discipline, but we are no super humans. Once you touch your phone, it’s hard to put it back.
So avoid using your phone and checking social media in the first place.
There will be so many notifications and missed calls and you start responding to those notifications and, you already wasting your morning.
Those notifications only drain your mind. Start the morning with good vibes feeding all the good things instead of the same old pattern of using your phone as soon as you get up.
This small change is the biggest change you can make that will lead you to create a positive routine for yourself.

4. Offer Prayer and Gratitude
After I wake up, freshen up and make my bed, the first thing I go to is my altar and sit for my morning prayer.
Prayers for me is like talking to God, a higher power, the universe, whatever you may name give.
Prayer is like an affirmation of the day. Your prayers should be affirmations of how your day should be.
Prayer is giving respect to the one you believe in. It is offering gratitude for your beautiful life.
Prayer makes your faith strong and eventually you.
Pray that to make you capable of enjoying all the abundance of life, because once you start working for your positive living and self-transformation you are bound to receive blessings from the Universe/God.
God loves to see you changing into your best version which is your real version.
Starting every day with a heartfelt prayer gives me immense joy and confidence. I feel protected and blessed and certain that I am receiving lots of blessings.
In your daily positive routine, include prayer where you pray for yourself first, and then from your clean heart, pray for your loved ones and don’t forget to pray for a peaceful world.
5. Write Journal
After praying, sit to write in a journal for 10 minutes. You can write anything. Writing helps you channel your thoughts in a good way.
There is no rule for the journaling. You simply pour your thoughts, whatever is in your mind or your heart just write it down.
If you are sad and frustrated, pour in your journal and it will ease your pain.
If you are happy, pour your happiness with gratitude and it will multiply your happiness.
The habit of journaling helped me to start this blog.
I started journaling and writing my day-to-day things. Then my daughter suggested I also write any learning from the day.
I was also not regular in writing when I started for the first.
For three to four months it used to go smoothly, then after that, my journal used to become an account writing book for household expenses.
But thanks to my practice of self-improvement I started again and this time I started with writing only the positive happenings of the day avoiding all the negative incidents.
I only wrote gratitude for the good things of the day.
But Life is not only a bed of roses, bad things do come. You can’t avoid them. Then I started writing whatever my day brought for me and whatever I felt and learned.
Now journaling helps me choose the positive things and lets me see the lessons from the negative things.
6. Daily to-do List
A simple habit of making a daily to-do list can help us feel less overwhelmed and so much more likely to get things done.
Instead of going about your day aimlessly, add the habit of writing a daily to-do list where you write down only your one most important task you absolutely want to get done and 2-3 small ‘would like to do tasks’ that you would want to do in your day.
7. Plan your time blocks
A positive daily routine starts with positive planning. Plan your work hours and your day in blocks where you allot time blocks into each of your tasks for the day.
An easy way to do time blocks is to decide what you want to block your time for in the morning before work, during work and then in the evening after coming from work.
Diving the day into three halves- before work, during work and after work for the weekdays can be a good way to structure and plan your time and tasks.
Allot time blocks for reading, journaling, exercise, me-time and any other activity you would want to start for positive living.
8. Read Good Books
Developing a reading habit is crucial to lead a positive life.
We get to learn so much from the great personalities and books and it is such a misfortune if we did not read them.
It is our good fortune that the writers and leaders have given so much of their knowledge to us that we can use it anytime.
They give us the blueprint of life and make our lives easy. You can rely on them more than anything.
I read motivational and self-help books in the morning and autobiographies. Currently, I am reading “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louis Hay and “ My Story” by Rosa Parks.
Start reading just one or two pages every day to make it a habit.
And slowly increase the number of pages. You will surely make a very good positive habit.

9. Have a healthy Breakfast
Choose a healthy breakfast for yourself in the morning. If you are in the habit of skipping breakfast in the morning, don’t skip it anymore.
Include fruits, nuts and berries.
What we eat also affects our mood and how we feel. When we eat healthy, it makes us feel happy and positive and good about ourselves.
Whereas if we have junk food and heavy food in the morning, we won’t be able to think clearly too.
Here are some healthy breakfast ideas you can try.
10. Exercise
To lead a good life, it is essential to be a healthy person.
It is not possible to lead a positive life with diseases in the body and mind.
Exercise helps prevent you from falling sick.
Simply focus on movement rather than focusing simply on losing weight or gaining weight.
Exercise just to move your body and because exercise is good for your body.
Exercising for 20 minutes each day is better than not exercising at all.
Even a little stretching is good for your body and it will relax you immensely.
11. Meditate for 10 minutes
“What exercise is to the body, meditation is to the mind.”
If you want to live positively, then your mind must remain calm and in peace. Meditation helps you to remain calm.
Being with yourself for some time in silence gives peace and positivity.
Try just 10 minutes of breathing exercises.
Just sit quietly and observe your in-breath and out-breath.
You will notice many thoughts in your mind. Just don’t give importance to them and come back to your breath.
It will really help you relax your mind and know what the chatter is all about, and you will slowly see how unimportant it is.
You can use YouTube for all the guided meditation. I particularly love this channel:
12. Go outside for a walk
Nature nourishes everything.
Take time to be with nature. Go for a walk.
Walking is not only good for your body but keeps your mind healthy and fresh too.
Whatever tension, stress and workload you have, go for a walk and release all the stress from your body with each step.
Feel that you are releasing everything with each step. Doing so, you will feel rejuvenated and positive.
Next time when you go for a walk, be mindful of your steps to get rid of your stress.
13. Practice Positive affirmations
“What you think you become” Lord Buddha
Our thoughts shape our lives.
Practice writing affirmations and read them out loud every morning or whenever you like to.
Affirmations remind us of our capabilities. It helps us become positive towards our life.
Affirm that you are willing to dream big, affirm you are strong, beautiful, healthy, wealthy- the list is unlimited.
Limitations are only in our minds.
Affirmation is the way to a positive life.
Every year I write my affirmations on the first page of my journal that I read every morning when I begin writing in my journal.
It has been for 5/6 years and I am finding it very helpful in my progress and self-improvement.
From this year I have started writing monthly affirmations too. I read all my affirmations in the morning every day.
14. Set a consistent bedtime ritual
Set a consistent bedtime and strive to go to bed early at the same time every night.
Choose to go screen-free and have a digital detox one hour before bed.
Keep a book by your bedside always so once you are done with dinner, you can easily pick it up and read.
My bedtime ritual after dinner is to moisturize my face, read a few pages from a book and talk to my daughter before sleeping.

Final Thoughts on Daily Routine For a Positive Life
If you practice these simple routines it will surely make your life positive and blissful.
Peace, joy, happiness, health, wealth, wisdom, and compassion are installed within each one of us by birth.
The only thing is that we are unaware of it.
If you only practice this positive routine, you will start to see more of these positive qualities inside you and in your life.
The positive starts showing its face once you align yourself with your higher true self by inculcating a positive routine.
Everything requires patience and practice.
Be patient. Do things slowly. Don’t keep high expectations of yourself. Make changes with joy and without putting any burden.
As you create a positive lifestyle by following a positive daily routine consistently, more and more positive things start appearing in your life. This I say from my own actual proof.
