We all live our lives daily, but we don’t know how to live it fully. Today I want to share 10 simple ways you can improve your day.
Being without purpose in life for a long time all throughout my 20s, 30s and even half of 40, I chose to live a meaningful life at the age of 50.
I was going with the flow of my life, most of the time frustrated, broke, helpless, purposeless, meaningless, sad and unhappy.
Happiness was very rare in my life. But one fine day I decided to change my life and the result was astounding.
We never take our life seriously, we just flow with it. Most of us think that it’s our destiny, fate, and luck and never care to steer the direction of our lives.
Each day is an opportunity for us to live being the best version of ourselves and live our ideal lives.
Our ideal life is now, and it begins with an ideal day.
Today I am enjoying my life to the fullest and even though it’s my same ordinary life, but now my habits have changed and my perception has changed.
And it has made an incredible difference.
The switch button is in our hands. You must be brave enough to change it.
In this post, I would like to share some of the best habits to make your day better so that eventually you can have a better life.
1. Wake up early
If you want to have a better day, you have to wake up early.
If you wake up late and feel exhausted in the morning, you won’t have the energy to create a better day.
For a better day, you have to start with the night before.
Sleep on time so as to wake up early and wake up ready to do the things your heart is set out to explore.
2. Set daily goals
Setting daily goals is very fun and interesting and it should be in alignment with your yearly and monthly goals.
Every day set 3 daily goals for yourself of which one can be the most important task for the day and the other two small daily goals.
Do your most important task as your first main goal early in the morning before anything else crops up to obstruct you, and you will already have accomplished much for the day.
3. Have a morning routine
If you wake up feeling unmotivated and not knowing what to do, create a simple morning routine for yourself and add some rituals to do every morning.
A 10-minute habit of journaling, a short morning stretch and workout, reading 5 pages, eating healthy, and listening to affirmations go a long way in starting the day positively and making your day better.
Here is my morning routine before 9 am.
4. Be grateful
The most important and most effective way to better your day is to start your day with a heart full of gratitude.
A grateful heart attracts more opportunities to be grateful for.
Make a habit of offering gratitude.
Its not because you become happy that you are thankful, but because you are thankful that you become happy.
We neglect so many tiny but the most important things of our life.
Do not miss to thank everything around you- the air we breathe, the water we drink, our parents, family, the plants around us, our own body, the food we eat, the list is endless.
I started writing my journal in the year 2017 about only the things I was grateful for.
My life was not smooth and I was going through hard days, but I did not write any events of the day which were negative or stressful and it forced me to think about the good that happened each day.
5. Stop complaining
If we are not aware, most of the hours in our day we spend complaining about every little thing we face in our day.
Just imagine how much we complain in a year.
But when we complain, we will be left with more complaints in our lives.
Avoid complaining for the day.
Be aware and mindful as soon as you notice you are complaining and divert your mind to see the good things in them.
6. Move your body
Physical activity releases endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators.
To better your day, give some time in your day to move your body.
It can be by doing simple exercises, a good stretch, a yoga flow or even just a short walk.
They all help reduce stress and improve your mood to have a better day.
I always feel so rejuvenated after I get my body moving.
7. Keep your home tidy
Our surrounding plays a vital role in uplifting our energy.
I have experienced that when my room is in a mess I feel heavy and unclear in my thoughts.
To make your day better, clear all the mess, declutter the unwanted things, and keep everything around neat and clean.
By practicing this habit you will notice that you are also removing all the mess from your life and you start feeling lighter too.
8. Use social media mindfully
Make it a point to limit screen time and use social media mindfully.
Instead of uselessly scrolling the phone every 2 minutes, set a rule for yourself and refrain from it.
You can do a digital detox for a day too, and commit to using social media mindfully in a designated time.
Doing so you will be forced to be bored and then use that time to do some physical activity, read a book, go out, talk to people and actually think about your life and how you really want to spend your day.
9. Read a few pages
Pick up a book each month and make it a point to read a few pages every day.
Set a time for when you want to read- in the morning or evenings.
Be as specific for when you want to give time for reading.
You become the books that you read, the things you watch, the friends you have in your life.
Choose carefully.

10. Eat well and stay hydrated
Your food affects your mood and your energy levels.
Try to eat balanced meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Keep a bottle in front of you at all times.
Do not skip meals, avoid processed food and cut down on sugar.
See if you feel any difference in your energy levels.
11. Learn something new
Our lives become more interesting when we continue to learn new things.
Whether it’s a new word, a fact, or a skill, learning something new provides a sense of accomplishment and gives us a mental boost.
Every morning or evening after work or anytime, devote at least 30 minutes to learning something new.
This will make your day feel much better and you will feel successful on the inside.
12. Be present
Lastly, be present and practice mindfulness.
Connect with people you love and be present for your loved ones.
Do things with grace instead of feeling it like an obligation.
You only get to do it for a little while. Do it without anger, restlessness, and boredom.
Spend a few minutes at the end of the day reflecting on what went well and what you could improve. This can help you feel content and plan for a better tomorrow.
Final thoughts on how to make your day better
Our life is a set of days. To have a successful life we should give importance to each day. Each day passed successfully is a way of having a successful life.
Give your time to yourself, keep your phone away, read motivational books, write your thoughts, and your goals, exercise, meditate, make your routine and see how beautifully your life changes.
Remember, the goal is not to pack all these activities into one day, but to find a balance that works for you and brings small moments of joy and satisfaction into your daily life.
Have a wonderful day.
