How to enjoy household chores? It sounds crazy after all, who likes to do any chores at home?
We avoid doing our household chores until and unless it is a compulsion and our chores are overloaded keeping them pending for a long time.
Most people find household chores a burden. When doing it, they nag and complain more than the chores.
I was one of them. Mostly when I was cleaning the home I used to be angry, full of complaints and would shout constantly at the minutest thing.
The atmosphere of the house turned to be negative and heavy even after cleaning and sorting out all the garbage and clutter.
But I am grateful that with time my life changed with my new way of looking at life. I started working on my self-development and still continue to work on it in my day-to-day life.
Now I feel happy and delighted to do my household chores. I enjoy doing them and I want to tell you how I did and how you can too.
How I find joy in my housework
We do cooking and cleaning every day and for most of us, it is part of our daily routine. I realized that if I feel tired and frustrated after completing my house chores which is something that I have to do every day, then I won’t ever be happy in life.
Complaining and shouting won’t make me avoid my household chores, but would only make me feel bad and angry.
I remember this is my home and started doing things not out of compulsion but out of love. And when we generate love in whatever action we do, we will feel light.
If you do it full of complaints then you will feel heavy. And this will become a never-ending situation in your life which will affect you and your family and most importantly your kid.
It is impossible to enjoy your chores if you are not in a peaceful state of mind. I realised everything is in our hands.
With little mindfulness and awareness, I started to enjoy the same task which would earlier be overloaded with anger, burden and complaints.
Either way, you have to finish it so why not choose happiness?
You know this work is yours then why not do it with joy and happiness instead of complaining and anger?
So here in this post, I will share how you can enjoy your household chores just by applying some simple tips.
How to enjoy household chores
1. Make a list
It is very helpful to make a list of things you are going to do. There are mostly two kinds of chores every household follows, daily chores and weekend chores. Separate them wisely so that it will be easy to do the task without any burden for you.
Cleaning and cooking are everyday chores that cannot be avoided. Cleaning certain parts of the house, arranging your wardrobe, and working in the garden can be done during your weekend.
While making a list for weekend chores see that you will only do the certain part of the house which is important for you that week.
Do not do the whole house in a day. By making a list wisely you will finish your household chores without tiring your body.
2. Do your chores happily
The household chores are your responsibility. This is your duty and you have to do it anyway, so why not do it happily?
A human being’s true nature is to be happy. Our nature is happiness. Cultivate that nature while doing any household chores. It will really help you enjoy your task.
Feel happy while cleaning, washing, and cooking if your energy is happy while doing anything, then your life will be happy your environment will be happy.
You will not only enjoy your chores, but you will also attract many positive things in your life.

3. Be present
The main reason for unhappiness is not being in the present moment. We always think about the next chores, while preparing breakfast you think of your lunch, while taking your lunch you think about what to cook for dinner.
You never enjoy the chores in the hands you are doing right now. You are always either in the past or in the future.
Know what you are doing, and be aware of everything. When you are cleaning, clean. When you are washing, wash. When you are cooking, cook. Enjoy the process of every household chore you are doing at this moment.
Come back to the present moment whenever you find yourself with your past or future thoughts. The present moment is the gift that is why it is called a present. Enjoy your gift.
Whatever household chores you are doing enjoy it by being fully in the present.
4. Offer Gratitude
Offering gratitude is the best form of positivity, bliss, and peace. Offer gratitude for everything in your life.
A grateful heart is a happy heart, you can practice gratitude while doing your household chores.
Be grateful for your health, you would be lying in bed doing nothing if your health is not good. You are able to do your household chores now, so enjoy them.
5. Avoid doing everything in one day
Do not overdo things. This is your home. You know which part is most needed for cleanliness, so you go with that.
Do things slowly and observe yourself whether you are getting irritated doing the stuff. If yes, smile at yourself and think, you are here to enjoy your chores not to get frustrated.
When I do whole lots of my household chores I do get irritated in between but I am happy to share that I get to know my irritation fast and immediately work on my thoughts and smile at myself.
This brings joy back and I enjoy my chores.
4. Apply mindfulness to your everyday chores
We have been doing our everyday chores, like cooking, cleaning, and washing we must have been pros doing all these kinds of stuff.
We would be doing them without any difficulty or irritation. But, some of us get frustrated, heavy, and angry.
Instead of enjoying we are frustrated because we are not aware of what we are doing. If we do not know what we are doing, then it will be a new task for us every day.
Start today with awareness. Do them happily. You are doing a wonderful job. Cook with all the positivity it will affect the health of the one who is eating your food.
While washing your vegetables, be mindful and enjoy washing them. You will find wonders if you see them closely.
We always think after finishing our chores we will enjoy our relaxing time. But happiness is found now and here. Enjoy yours now.
Clean as if you are cleaning everything negative and clutter from your life giving space for peace and happiness.
Arrange your clothes as if you are arranging your life in the best way. Happiness and suffering are inside us. Choose which one you want to treasure. When you enjoy your chores you choose happiness and when you complain you choose to suffer.
5. Enjoy Music With your Chores
The music will lift our mood and energy. Play music while doing your chores. You can listen to a good podcast, it will really motivate you and make your work easy and meaningful. I listen to the podcast “The Way Out Is In” and “The Heart Of Living”. I started enjoying my household chores more, after listening to these podcasts.
Listen to a piece of happy music while cleaning your house and sing along. The music will change your mood instantly.
6. Weekend Chores
Plan your weekend well so that you can give more time with your family and kids. Do not spend your weekend just by finishing everything by yourself in one day, leaving you more frustrated and tired.
Enjoy your weekend with your family and kids. Seek help from them and enjoy your chores altogether.
Children like to do household chores. Take their help with small things they will be overjoyed.
Your task not only become easy but you build more strong bonding with your family and kids.

I have learned in these years that if we do our responsibilities sincerely and with our heart, then everything will fall into its perfect place, no matter what is our current circumstances.
