Your home defines you. It is your sacred place, your sanctuary, so it is important to know how to make your home peaceful and calm.
Your home is where you come back to yourself.
The world is in great turmoil right now. There is unrest everywhere.
There is more noise and negativity than peace and kindness.
So you need to create your peaceful world.
The environment of the home plays a vital role in creating peace in your life.
You spend most of your lifetime in your home and your home influences you emotionally and mentally.
It is in our hands to make our home the best or worst place to live.
If you wish your life to shift towards a positive direction, start by making certain changes in your home.
It works.
So in this post, I am going to share how to create peace and calm at home.
So let’s get started….
1. Declutter
Open, tidy and organized space in your home brings peace and happiness to you. The habit of decluttering helps in reducing stress and tension.
Every object has a certain vibration.
Any space with garbage and unwanted things gives negative vibes. So try to clear it out as soon as possible.
How can you find peace if there is a mess around?
Practice the habit of keeping your home neat if you want to find peace at home.
Ask yourself, “Have I used it in the last 3-6 months?” If not, you can give it away.
They will never come to use in the future.
Decluttering unwanted things is like decluttering an extra mess from your mind. A clear mind is always at peace.

2. Create A Peaceful Space
Make a special room in your home where you can take a peaceful refuge to fuel your mind with peace and positivity.
If you can’t create a room, you can create a small corner for the same purpose. Here you can meditate, read, relax and send peace and happiness to the world.
Make sure that this space is free from noise or any distracting objects. Make this a distraction-free corner.
Here are some ways to create a peaceful space:
- Add green plants
- Play soothing music
- Add warm lights in your living room
- Light fragrant candles
- Use light colors in your bedroom curtains and sheets
- Paint light colors
- Burn fragrant incense
These will bring more positivity and peace to your home and you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

3. Follow Routines
Mostly at home, the tension arises with the crisis of time in doing our work.
The home environment becomes heavy if there is misunderstanding, chaos and tension.
Follow the habit of creating routines or dividing tasks among your family members to reduce this tension and conflict.
Whether it’s a morning routine, evening routine or bedtime routine, this habit of following routines will create clear intentions towards your life.
You will be able to manage your time more efficiently and productively.
You would not be in a rush to complete the tasks and you would not be in panic mode if you followed routines.
Then, with no rush and no tension to do any household chores, there will be less stress, less conflict and more peace.

4. Create a Noise Free Home
Noise is a source of stress and tension. If you want a stress-free home, lower the volume of your T.V. Use headphones while watching anything on your mobile phone.
It irritates me a lot when someone watches reels, one after another without thinking how others present in the room feel.
I always hand over my headphones to whoever does like that. My problem is not with the person but with the volume of the phone.
I feel loudness and noise scare the calm and peace of home.
If you want to find peace, avoid the loudness of any music or voice at home. It is as simple as that.
If you have kids in your home, it’s natural to have noise in your home, so accept the playfulness and naughtiness of your children too. It is their age to scream, run and play.
You as parents reduce your noise, be centred and be a calm mom to create peace at home.
5. Create Healthy Relationships
Your home will not be in peace if your relationship with your spouse, children and other family members is not good.
Foster a relationship with them. Cultivate understanding and do things that make them happy.
The more you work for the happiness of others at home, the happier your life will be.
Forget and forgive if anybody causes pain.
Keeping resentment deep inside only hurts you the most. So better drop it off.
In my life, I’ve been discriminated against the most. I am happy to share that I am happily serving the person who discriminated against me, and there are no bad feelings or hatred.
I am at peace. If I had not forgiven, I would be miserable to serve her with resentment.
If you have to serve the person you dislike anyway, it is better to serve her/ him with a good heart.
This behaviour of yours will make the atmosphere of the house healthy and peaceful. This is the best way to find peace at home.
6. Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the call of the hour. It is a most important trend to follow in this world if you want peace at home or anywhere. Mindfulness helps create peace in your life.
Mindfulness is being aware, aware of your thoughts, words and actions. To know what you are doing right now is mindfulness.
Meditate just by watching your incoming and outgoing breath for some time.
By practicing regularly you will not only be aware of your breath while meditating but also while doing anything.
Practice mindfulness while eating, cooking, cleaning or doing any household chores. Do the thing with mindful awareness and gratitude and it will change the ‘How’ of the particular task.
To be aware means to be in the best of yourself. And when you’re doing your best, you will only receive best.
7. Create a Peaceful morning
How you start your day is very important when practising to create a peaceful atmosphere at home.
Try to make your morning as peaceful as possible.
Avoid arguments, shouting and scolding your children, your spouse or anyone else.
Also, do not use your phone in the morning.
Instead, use soft tones when speaking. Play soft mantras. Use morning time to nurture your growth.
Create a morning routine of exercise, meditation, reading, and writing a journal.
If your morning is peaceful, peace will prevail at home always.
8. Resolve conflicts calmly
When living with family, there are chances of misunderstanding and conflict.
Try to resolve with open dialogue, share your thoughts, listen to other family members and find the best way to solve the problem.
This family habit will help to make the family bond stronger.
Create such a space in your family where no one hesitates to share their thoughts, likes and dislikes giving less chance for further conflict.
If you are a woman, your self-awareness and wisdom can help guide your entire family to a better path.
9. Less use of gadgets
If you really want to find peace at home, use your gadgets less.
Do not watch your phone while eating.
While eating, eat. Enjoy your meals with your family, not with your phones.
Interact with family. Be fully present for your loved one.
Do not use your phone as soon as you get up in the morning and half an hour prior to sleep.
Too much screen time will stray you away from your true nature and your true goals in life.
I get a headache if I overuse my phone.
You watch your phone for joy and entertainment, but it will give you more stress, headache and heaviness if you use it uncontrollably. Know your limits.
When you are stressed out, you will not find peace anywhere.
And when you are not at peace, you won’t find peace at home.
10. Stop Watching Negative News
Do not watch negative news, and not at all in full volume at all.
Negative news affects the vibration of the house in a great deal. It can be the main reason for unhealthy situations at home.
If you want peace at home, stop watching negative news. Negative news creates anxiety and stress.
You start thinking in the same negative manner if you are not very conscious.
You start doubting people, and you may lose self-confidence.
Feed yourself with positivity. There are so many good things to watch and learn. Watch those.
