Our home is our refuge from the everyday hustle and bustle of life and we want our home to be a relaxing space where we feel recharged.
Wherever we go, even to our favourite holiday destination, we long to be home after a few days of spending time out from our home. We miss being at home.
You must have seen in some of the hotels they write “ Home away from home.”
Home is where the heart is. So if we can make this place more relaxing, comfortable, peaceful, and happy place it can add more value to our home and in our life.
Why you should make your home relaxing?
I am a stay-at-home mom, so most of the time I am at home. Although my home is very old I try my best to make it look beautiful and more relaxing.
I live alone and there are very slight chances for mess but living alone is hard.
I often get attacked by negative comments from people around me, people try to manipulate me so there is a higher risk of me getting swayed away by this.
Thankful for my practice of self-development I give no ears to them and I try to keep myself in high vibration.
And to make my home relaxing is one of the practices I am following every day to take refuge from all the negativity and overwhelming situations.
I want to feel at ease and at peace staying here with my own company. The happy news is my dog Bella has recently given birth to 4 cute puppies which have added more workload on me. But I do them happily.

How to make your home relaxing
1. Keep your house neat and clean
The most important thing to do to make your home relaxing is to keep your home neat. Always keep your home dirt-free and shiny.
Our mind gets blocked when our house is dirty and in a mess. Our surroundings affect our minds a great deal.
If you are surrounded by a mess, your life condition will be in a mess. It will not move forward.
I feel heavy if my home is not clean and tidy. I always see that the shoes are on the shoe rack. The slippers are nicely arranged. There is no mess outside and inside.
If you clear up the mess as soon as you see them then there will be less burden to clean up later.
2. Declutter unwanted things
Decluttering is very important if you want to keep your home relaxing. Declutter the things which are not in use.
The things which you have not using for more than six months will never come into use. You better sort them out. Give them to someone who needs them.
We always keep things that have emotions connected with them. These things are blockages in our progress.
Keeping those things will always drag us backwards rather than forward. So declutter without feeling guilty. It will light your heart and mind.
Here are some things that need to be decluttered most in our homes
- Old newspapers and magazines.
- Old clothes.
- Broken toys
- Old makeup sets
- Plastic bags
- Bottles and cans
- Old and unused furniture
3. Add Green plants
Green is the symbol of peace, adding green plants inside your house gives out peaceful vibes. Whichever corner of your house you find dull add indoor plants and see the difference.
Having green plants inside relaxes your mind and soul. My house is very old and I always bring my green plants inside and add beauty to my room.
My best decorative item is green plants. You can keep changing the plants to give different looks to your home.
4. Change the linen
To sleep on clean linen is always relaxing and good. I change my linen often, and whenever I sleep in a new change of linen I feel relaxed, stress-free, and happy.
Whenever you feel you are not in a good mood and feeling stressed change your bed sheet and lie down relaxing your body, and you will instantly feel good.
I have experienced this feeling and this is my secret tip to uplift my mood.
5. Add Books
Adding books to your home is the most relaxing thing to do. Books motivate you to inspire you. However bad mood you are in if you read a few pages from an inspirational book your mood will light up immediately.
If you make reading books a regular habit, then you will be always in a happy, positive, and joyful mood. When you are happy then the atmosphere of your house will always be relaxing and joyful.
Book is my constant companion. It helps me a great deal to remain motivated. I do not feel lonely, although I stay alone. Books are my best teacher too.
6. Light Some Candles
Give your house a positive vibe by lighting candles. You will get beautiful candles with beautiful designs. This candle leaves a soothing vibration in the atmosphere.
You can also keep lamps by your bedside and turn them on.
You can use warm lights instead of bright LED lights. I find warm lights very soothing and relaxing.
7. Try aroma therapy
You can make your home relaxing by lighting incense or try using essential oils.
Aroma- therapy can greatly boost our well-being and entering the room and having a nice smell can make us feel like we have entered our safe space and can serve as a reminder to be present and truly relax.
8. Keep toys away
If you have kids, always keep the toys back in their place after playing. Teach these good habits from an early age to your kids. Toys all around the place in the house look messy and unkempt.
A messy house gives messy and unclear vibrations which can affect the environment of the house.
9. Let in the sun’s rays
As soon as you get up, open the windows and the curtain to let the sun’s rays enter your house. Sun’s warmth gives life to us and all the living beings on this planet.
There is no life without the sun. Let each corner of your house get the sun’s light making your house warm and peaceful.
10. Do not keep your clothes outside
The clothes lying all over the room make the room look dirty and messy. Keep them folded nicely inside the cupboard as soon as you change them. Do not keep them outside.
Try to keep everything inside and undercover. Most people just throw the clothes and go away from the house leaving the house messy and untidy.
Your house is the place where you relax and wish to have tranquillity and relaxation after you come back from your hard day’s work.
Your mood will be more agitated if you find the house messy. Instead of feeling relaxed after reaching home, you feel like running away from here.
11. Wash your dishes after use
Wash your dishes after use. Do not keep any used dishes in the sink at night. Dirty utensils all over the sink make your kitchen look dirty and untidy.
Dirty places cannot attract good vibrations. So the atmosphere of the house will be heavy and unpleasant.
“Cleanliness is next to godliness” so keeping all the corners of your house clean means attracting good vibration into your house.
12. Listen to good music
Music has the power to calm your mind and soul. Beautiful and meaningful songs can lift your mood instantly.
Choose soothing music for the morning and evening. Let your house receive all the positive aura from the music.
You can play chanting, mantras, or just peaceful music, especially in the morning. It will help you relax your body and mind. A peaceful morning leads to a peaceful day.
Final thoughts on how to make your house relaxing
Our life is in our hands. Every little action helps shape our life into better or bitter life.
The most important thing in our life to give some extra care to is our home. Because we spend most of our lives in our homes.
This universe works on vibrations. That means everything around including you and your home receives and gives out vibration.
As soon as you get up, open up all the windows and let in fresh air and sun’s rays to refresh and warm your house. This is the most relaxing activity you can do to begin your day.
Keep adding more relaxing action. With your bed tea play soft music, mantras, inspirational podcast, soothing music any good music.
Keep the volume of your voice low so that you will not disturb others and most importantly, yourself.
If any noise disturbs you or irritates you just higher the volume of the music or put on earphones and be with you.
Whenever you are feeling relaxed you are relaxing at your home for the rest of the day and eventually the rest of your life.
Do everything in a relaxed manner. Give positive and relaxed vibrations to your home and you will receive all the good things in life. Believe me, I have experienced this.
