Happiness is an inside job. You can create happiness anywhere. The material things give short-term happiness. Once it is gone from our hands, the sadness comes again.
Wherever you are, whether at home or with your job if you are not happy inside, then life will be very hard to live. So learn to find happiness in every little thing.

1. Follow a daily routine
Follow a daily routine for yourself and for your kids (if they are small) to be a happy stay-at-home mom.
Most of the messiness, feelings of loneliness, burnout and disorganisation that most of us stay-at-home moms feel can simply vanish by just following a daily routine that takes care of yourself, what you want to do and what you want your kids to do.
Having a set routine is like an anchor for stay-at-home moms to stay sane and happy, so make a simple one and be firm to stick with it.
2. Take Shower with mindfulness
We take shower every day and sometimes more than once. But here I am talking about mindful shower.
How many have you have taken a mindful shower? It’s really interesting and worth doing. If you don’t know I am here to tell you.
Take some time to shower. Enjoy the water pouring into your body. Play music in the background, sing along, and enjoy your shower.
At the same time while cleansing your body feel that you are cleansing all the negativity from your body and all your negativity is gone with water from the head to toe. You are an all-new version of yourself after every shower.
You will feel happy and different after a few days. You will see changes in your life. You do not have to do a mindful shower every time but once a week will add a great difference to your life.
3. Dress well as a stay-at-home mom
Give yourself some pampering by putting moisturizer on your face and body. Your skin requires regular care and attention. Set your hair. Keep yourself tip-top.
I used to put moisturizer and cream only when I used to go out and never applied when at home. But nowadays I apply my moisturizer after washing my face as soon as I get up.
After showering, I wear beautiful house clothes and I feel happy and good instantly.
What we do always is stay home we always neglect the dresses we wear. We just wear anything and only get dressed up when we go out.
As a stay-at-home mom, used to be miserable looking at home. I would wear faded, worn-out old clothes most of the time.
During winters, the same woollen clothes would come out of the wardrobe, and I would wear those for countless winters.
Only now I have come to realise that we wear good clothes to feel good and raise our vibration and for stay-at-home moms like us, who are staying at home most of the time, we must give importance to how we dress even at home because these little things make a difference in our feelings and outlook.
4. Read Books
Reading is a habit we all should cultivate, but even more important is for a stay-at-home mom to cultivate it.
Nothing is more beautiful than reading a book to pass my time. Books are companions, and I get to know myself from every story I read.
Books teach you that you are worthy of everything and encourage you. They make you realise that you are not the only one suffering.
As your interest increases in reading, you will no longer feel bored and lonely. You will have so many companions with you.
You will be travelling to so many places, meeting so many people with the characters of your book and giving you happiness.
5. Go out for walks
Take your time to go out for a walk to refresh yourself.
Going for a walk heals your body and mind. Walking helps to circulate the blood flow in your body. Walking for even half an hour helps cure many diseases. It is good for obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
You can go for a walk at any time. It is not that you should go only in the morning. There are no such rules. I do not get time in the morning so I go for an evening walk.
I enjoy my walk and enjoy whatever comes my way. I see the signs of life around me.
You are alive, feel the life inside, and acknowledge the lives outside. Go out of the home if you are frustrated and pour out your frustration in each step. Empty your frustrated mind, and come back home lighter.
6. Be positive
Be positive, easy to say, and hard to follow, but these are the main ingredients if you want to be happy staying at home. To stay positive start with looking at everything you are dealing with in a positive way.
‘Everything is going to be alright.’ Repeat this word every time you face any challenge like a parrot. Believe me, it works.
Once your subconscious mind is fed with the sentence ‘everything is going to be all right’, then you will be programmed with this and soon you will see and experience that everything falls into its best place.
This sentence changed my life. I believed this line from my heart. and never complain about my life despite all kinds of problems – financial, health, relationships almost everything.
Now I am a happy stay-at-home mom with all kinds of abundance. Everything fell back to its best place. I received more than I expected.
7. Pray
Sincere prayers from the heart will be heard by the almighty. Prayer connects us with the universe. Whatever we send to the universe will come back to us.
Prayer for me is like talking to God. Express your thoughts, and your wishes in the form of prayers.
Have absolute faith. Pray and believe that whatever your life is giving you is best for you because it is coming from your sincere prayers to the one you believe.
I offer my prayers first thing in the morning for another beautiful day, and end my day by offering gratitude for the day.
I pray for the peace and happiness of all the living beings of this entire world. I do it sincerely and that means I pray for you too. So I have firm faith that my prayers will be answered and you will be in peace and enjoy happiness.
8. Meditate
Practice meditation early morning. Meditation will help you calm your mind. It gives clarity and peace.
Be with yourself at least for 10 minutes in the morning to quiet your mind. Sit in a quiet place and just observe your breath or just sit and offer thankfulness.
You can listen to guided meditation and follow the instructions and practice.
This is so important for stay-at-home moms. We have to deal with so many things staying at home.
We sometimes lose our temper; we become nagging, irritating, and frustrating.
Sometimes the atmosphere of the house might become unpleasant. If it is not handled properly then the result may become painful for everyone. So early morning meditation will help you deal with the situation.
You will have the peace within you, which you have cultivated through your practice of meditation, and that will remain with you.
9. Listen to Music
Who does not love music? Listen to your favourite songs while doing household chores. I always do and I Love listening to music. Most of the music is related to our lives
Try to listen to happy songs because here you are in the process of finding happiness.
I remember when I was facing challenges in life along with my daughter and in the process of changing our life we used to listen to a Bollywood song- Apna time ayega (our time will come)
And now I and my daughter sing to ourselves “apna time agaya” ( our time has come).
10. Create Hobby
People have different kinds of hobbies. Almost all the people in this world have one or more hobbies.
Hobby helps us to know our creativity and talents. A hobby gives you relaxation to your body and mind.
If you do not have any, then find one. Its impossible that you can be born without a hobby or something that interests you.
Force yourself to give yourself time for your hobby too. You do so much for everyone, take time to do things you love to do as well.
Do some gardening, Learn cooking, make reading your hobby. You can knit to pass your time.
Take help from the internet to go deeper into your hobby. My hobby is gardening, reading books, writing, and travelling. I give space and time to each of my hobbies.
11. Be kind to everything around:
This practice of being kind to everything around is the best thing to do to bring peace and happiness in your life. A Little effort to be kind is a source of joy and satisfaction.
I always keep a water bucket for the birds, they come for the bath every afternoon, and watching them enjoying their bath gives me real pleasure.
I pamper my plants, clean their leaves, remove the yellow leaves, sprinkle water on them, and thank them for being around and giving them fresh air.
There are so many things around that need our attention and care. Give them some, and enjoy the truest happiness.
